Wineries & Farms in Morgan Hill
Morgan Hill is in the Santa Clara Valley, also known as “the Valley of Hearts Delight.” This rich agricultural area lends to a rural experience from family run vineyards, boutique and commercial farms, historic fruit orchards, ranches and equestrian centers.
Wineries
Morgan Hill proper is home to 10 wineries, with around 20 in the near vicinity on the Santa Clara Valley Wine Trail. The warm climate is perfect for a multitude of grape varietals and this area is known for boutique family-run wineries and an impressive number of award-winning wines. Some of the longest continually producing wineries and the FIRST California premium wine producers are right here. At one point, the Santa Clara Valley produced the most grapes in the state and even throughout prohibition. This relatively undiscovered wine country offers an approachable wine tasting experience at a great value and with fewer crowds. Morgan Hill wineries offer some of the best scenery and are ideal venues for special events and weddings.
Farms & Orchards
Morgan Hill is the mushroom capital of the state and home to several small and commercial farms producing a variety of fruits, veggies, goat cheese, honey, and more. Most notably, you’ll find historic stone-fruit orchards producing cherries, peaches, apricots, and plums with more heirloom varietals than anywhere else on the west coast of the United States. The trees bloom in late March – April, and bear fruit beginning in May. During harvest, orchards will have the fresh cherries and more for purchase by the pound and some even offer special “pick-your-own” orchard experiences.
Ranches & Equestrian Centers
Morgan Hill has numerous equestrian facilities offering horse boarding, horseback riding lessons, and animal rehab. Much of the protected and private open spaces were historic cattle ranches, and these lands offer numerous trails for horseback riding, as well as a gateway habitat for a diverse array of wildlife.
